80-year-old William Macdowell in UK sentenced to imprisonment for killing his lover, son 45 years ago
Putting an end to a 45-year-old murder case, a UK court sentenced an 80-year-old man to kill his lover and their toddler son.

The murderer, William MacDowell, killed his lover, Renee, and their son, Andrew MacRae, in November 1976. It is also the longest-running missing person case in the United Kingdom as the police have not been able to find the bodies of the 36-year-old mother or her 3-year-old son. They have urged MacDowell many times to tell them what he did with the victims so that they could get the "dignity they deserve", but to no avail. While pronouncing the judgement, Judge Lord Armstrong stated that the murders were 'planned', 'premeditated', and carried out in a "calculated way."
MacDowell was also found guilty of disposing of his victims' bodies and personal effects in an attempt to defeat the ends of justice. The court heard that the murderer killed or abducted the mother and her son on the A9 near Dalmagarry. However, MacDowell denied killing and disposing of the bodies of Renee and her son, Andrew.
Reportedly, Renee and Andrew were last seen on November 12, 1976.
