A plumber named James Anderson went to an elderly woman in Blackburn to fix a leaking tap, but he was surprised to notice her refrigerator was empty.


James described the elderly woman's situation

James posted about this issue on social media, claiming that an 89-year-old woman only had £1.67 in her bank account and a few cards and gifts from friends. She can only afford bread and an egg for Christmas supper.


He said that when he went to fix a leaky faucet in her home, the woman sobbed for 40 minutes.

On Twitter, he also shared images of her empty refrigerator. James appealed to PM Rishi Sunak in the post to assist the elderly with rising living expenses.

Food arranged for the woman

To help the woman,James organised a food shop from Asda which was delivered to her on Wednesday.

‘The lady’s shopping has been delivered. She will have plenty of gifts delivered by Father Christmas.'

The food is expected to last for 60 days, he added, 'this will ensure she gets a proper Christmas dinner.’
