In an X post shared by Dubai Media House, the official account of the Government of Dubai, it said, “Dubai Municipality announces a new plan to update the standards of the contractors and the Engineering Offices Evaluation System."

It added that to improve the construction and building sector in Dubai, they will introduce criteria and indicators for accurate performance evaluation.
These standards will ensure the sector is smarter, more sustainable, and aligns with international benchmarks..
What will be in the new rating system in 2026
The updated rating system will include a wider set of performance indicators and assessment criteria that will offer a more precise and comprehensive evaluation of licensed contractors and engineering consultancy offices.
According to Dubai Municipality, the revised framework will measure aspects such as technical capacity and expertise, project execution quality, regulatory and safety compliance, sustainability, and innovation practices
Authorities say the goal is to raise construction standards across the board, ensuring that all firms uphold ethical and operational excellence while contributing to Dubai’s long-term urban development goals.
In a parallel development, the Licensing and Professional Practice Registration Committee under Dubai Municipality has suspended two engineering consultancy offices for six months.
During the suspension period, the two firms will be barred from obtaining permits for new projects within Dubai.
The municipality did not name the firms but stated that the penalties reflect a strict zero-tolerance policy on non-compliance and misconduct.
