In UAE, hundreds of Mammootty's fans queue up to donate blood to celebrate his birthday

Hundreds of people across UAE participated in blood donation campaigns organised by Malayalam actor Mammootty's fans, who had launched a global initiative to get 25,000 people worldwide to donate blood on the occasion of the actor's 72nd birthday, which was celebrated on September 7.

Khaleej Times reported more than 300 people in the UAE participated in the blood donation initiative and the camps were held across the country over three weeks. Some people were reported to have driven long distances to participate in the initiative.

Padma Shri winner Mammootty has acted in over 400 films in various languages in a career spanning over five decades. On the occasion of his birthday, the veteran Malayalam superstar got a heartwarming birthday wish from his son and actor Dulquer Salmaan.


Dulquer took to social media to share a post as he uploaded two pictures, one of himself sharing the frame with his father and the other picture of Mammootty. Both the pictures are in monochrome.

"When I was a boy you were the man I wanted to become. When I first stood in front of the camera you were the actor I wanted to become. When I became a father you were everything I wanted to be. I hope one day I become even half of who you are Pa ! Wishing you the happiest birthday. May you always continue to awe, entertain and inspire the world in ways only you can," he said in the post.

Every year on Mammootty's birthday, Dulquer puts up a sweet post honouring the actor. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Leader of Opposition V D Satheesan also wished the actor on his birthday.



"He is an actor par excellence, a very fine human being and the pride of Indian cinema. Birthday greetings to @mammukka," Satheesan said in a social media post.

Besides movies, Mammootty also does several charity initiatives through his organisation "Care and Share International Foundation." The organisation under the leadership of Padma Shri Mammootty strives to uplift the lives of the less fortunate through various healthcare and educational programmes.
