U2 frontman Bono to make $1.5 billion from Facebook investment

LOS ANGELES: U2 frontman Bono, who owns 2.3 per cent of the shares of the social networking site Facebook, is set to earn more than USD 1.5 billion.

The 52-year-old rocker, who has invested about USD 176 million since 2009, could become the world's richest musician, reported Ace Showbiz.

Former Beatle Paul McCartney currently holds the title of the world's richest rock star with USD 1.5 billion.

Bono and his band are already in the list of Forbes' World's Highest-Paid Musicians after their tour grossed USD 700 million.

The group are said to be working on new materials for new album.

"The band are back in the studio getting a feel for new material after the last album 'No Line On The Horizon'. will.i.am had a credit on that and they are looking to explore that direction further. They have been working with Danger Mouse? and RedOne. They are excited about getting to work with Carl Falk," a source said.
