Two senior officials of Dow Jones & Co to quit organisation
Two senior officials of Dow Jones and Company, publisher of financial daily the Wall Street Journal, have said they will leave the organisation after its take over by media mogul Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation.
L Gordon, publisher of the WSJ and executive vice president of the company, and Joseph A Stern, general counsel, corporate secretary and member of the board of directors, have announced that they would be leaving these positions after the take over. But Stern would remain with the company through March 31 next year to assist in transition.
The announcement came a day after Chief Executive Officer of the company Richard F Zannino said that he would step down after the take over.
Rupert Murdoch, Chairman and chief executive of News Corporation Rupert Murdoch, said: "Gordon's departure is a sad day for Dow Jones".
"With 25 years of brilliant service, he has made a huge contribution to the company. I hope he will remain a professional and personal friend," Murdoch said.
"Joe Stern has served the company with great distinction as its chief corporate counsel. With the end of Dow Jones as a public company, Joe's expertise would no longer have been fully utilized and we understand his decision to leave at this time," he added.
