TOKYO: Toyota's global production fell for the first time in a year in September while its rivals Honda and Nissan enjoyed steady growth in output.

Toyota Motor Corp. said Monday its worldwide production fell 1.3 percent from a year earlier to 672,604 vehicles.

The world's No. 1 automaker said its first year-on-year decline in car production in 12 months was due to falling output in Europe and North America.

Honda Motor Co. said its global production in September rose 9.2 percent to 328,368 vehicles, growing for the 10th consecutive month.

Nissan Motor Co. said its worldwide production jumped 27.2 percent to 395,658 vehicles thanks to robust demand in China.
