NEW DELHI: Torrent Power today signed engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contracts with Siemens AG, Germany and Siemens India for its two projects.

The turnkey EPC contracts would be for expansion of Torrent Power's existing mega power project SUGEN (UNOSUGEN), the company said in a BSE filing.

UNOSUGEN is the 382.5 MW gas based combined cycle power project, which is being implemented to expand the existing capacity of SUGEN located close to River Tapi.

Under the EPC contracts, the two companies would set up a greenfield 1200 MW gas based combined cycle power project DGEN at Dahej Special Economic Zone.

While the UNOSUGEN is being implemented by the Torrent Power Ltd, DGEN would be set up by its wholly owned subsidiary Torrent Energy Ltd.

The company said that it would add about 1,600 MW of power generation capacity within the next three years.
