Swiss chocolate maker eyes Godiva
Swiss chocolate maker Lindt & Spruengli is examining a possible takeover of the luxury chocolate brand Godiva.
"It's my duty to my shareholders to analyse every possible acquisition," Tanner told the Financial Times Deutschland.
"The question is whether an acquisition will bring us a step closer to our goal of becoming the world's leading supplier of premium chocolate," Tanner said. "We have to do this in the case of Godiva as well. Then we'll make a decision."
Campbell Soup said last month that it was examining various options, including a possible sale of the famous Belgian brand.
FT Deutschland said Godiva was worth an estimated one billion dollars (734 million euros).
