STC plans to import 140,000T of yellow peas

The State Trading Corp of India Ltd has floated an import tender for 140,000 tonnes of yellow peas to be shipped between February-April 2008.

MUMBAI: The State Trading Corp of India Ltd has floated an import tender for 140,000 tonnes of yellow peas to be shipped between February-April 2008.

The tender for Canadian origin yellow peas would close on January 21, STC said on the government's official tender Web site (www.tenders.gov.in). India's pulses production has stagnated at 12-14 million tonnes annually, well below its annual consumption of 16 million tonnes.
