SINGAPORE: Singapore Airlines wants to redefine luxury in the sky. The company on Tuesday laid out a new range of cabin products for first, business and economy class seats.
The revamped cabins will give you a spacious business class seat, the biggest in its class, besides offering you more comfort, space and functionality. The new first class seat “unfolds into a luxurious flat bed.”
If you are an economy class traveller, the airline promises you more legroom as well as personal space. The new reclining mechanism ensures that the forward seat does not encroach the space of the traveller behind you.
But if you’re already picking up the phone to book your tickets, there’s some bad news. The new services, to be launched on the airline’s Boeing 777-300ERs and Airbus A-380s, won’t be available in the immediate future on medium haul routes like India.
Yap Kim Wah, senior vice-president product and services, told media persons after unveiling the products at the SIA Sports Club near Changi airport in Singapore, “The products are being launched on the long-haul routes and it will be progressively expanded, depending on the demands from particular routes. The airline will first launch the new products on its flight between Paris and Singapore in December ’06, and subsequently on the Singapore-Zurich route.”
