SEOUL: South Korea’s main opposition conservative party submitted a bill on Thursday demanding an independent probe into allegations of bribery at Sam-sung Group, a day after liberal-leaning lawmakers did the same.

The Grand National Party said an investigation should focus on the GNP's claim that President Roh Moo-hyun received cash from the con-glomerate.

A proposal was introduced on Wednesday in the National Assembly seeking an independent counsel to delve into burgeoning allegations that Samsung operated slush funds to bribe influential figures such as senior prosecutors, judges and lawmakers.
