Schwarzenegger tightens cosmetic surgery laws

Hollywood star-turned California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has taken a step towards making more strict laws pertaining to cosmetic surgery following the tragic death of rapper Kanye West's mother.

LONDON: Hollywood star-turned California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has taken a step towards making more strict laws pertaining to cosmetic surgery following the tragic death of rapper Kanye West's mother.

The 'Terminator' star has signed a new bill to ensure the safety of people who seek cosmetic surgery, reported Contactmusic.

The bill introduces the Donda West Law which requires anyone undergoing plastic surgery in the state to receive a mandatory physical examination first.

The law is named after Kanye's mother Donda West, who died of heart failure in November 2007, just a day after she went under the knife at a California clinic.

Schwarzenegger had vetoed the first phase of the bill last year, but has now finally signed it after it was resubmitted in February this year.
