SAN FRANCISCO: Computer memory group SanDisk said on Friday it has had "discussions" with South Korean giant Samsung Electronics but declined to confirm that they were merger or takeover talks.

SanDisk, which calls itself the world's largest supplier of flash storage card products, made the comments after media reports of a possible tie-up.

"SanDisk periodically has conversations with multiple parties, including Samsung, regarding a variety of potential business opportunities," the California-based firm said.

"We evaluate all of these opportunities, but maintain a policy of not commenting on market rumors or speculation."
