SEOUL: South Korea's top plant builder Samsung Engineering said Sunday it had clinched a $1.1-billion deal to build two gas processing factories for Thailand's state oil company PTT.

The plants, to be built by March 2010 in coastal Rayong province, would be able to process a combined 1.6 billion cubic feet (48 million cubic metres) of gas per day, Samsung Engineering said in a statement.

The South Korean firm said it had won orders worth 3.8 trillion won (4.1 billion dollars) so far this year, surpassing its initial goal of 3.5 trillion won. It has since revised the annual target up to five trillion won.
