S Korean airline to open new China route

South Korea's second-largest carrier Asiana Airlines said Monday it will launch twice-weekly flights linking the provincial city of Cheongju with China's capital Beijing.

SEOUL: South Korea's second-largest carrier Asiana Airlines said Monday it will launch twice-weekly flights linking the provincial city of Cheongju with China's capital Beijing.

Flights will operate on Wednesdays and Saturdays, starting this Wednesday, the airline said in a statement.

"The opening of the route will boost business activities between China and Chungcheong province," it said. Cheongju is 100 kilometers (85 miles) southeast of Seoul.
