Russia's Sukhoi to get 30 orders for Superjet

Russian jetmaker Sukhoi is to announce new orders for "around 30" of its Superjet 100 passenger planes at the Farnborough Airshow in Britain this week.

MOSCOW: Russian jetmaker Sukhoi is to announce new orders for "around 30" of its Superjet 100 passenger planes at the Farnborough Airshow in Britain this week, a spokeswoman for the company said.

An agreement on the orders is expected to be signed on Tuesday at the airshow where the Superjet will be showcased alongside the latest version of the company's Su-35 fighter jet, the spokeswoman said, without giving details.

The Superjet, under construction at a Sukhoi factory in far eastern Russia, had its maiden flight in May.

So far there have been 73 orders for the plane, which sells for around 28 million dollars (17.7 million euros).

Sukhoi hopes to sell 800 Superjets between now and 2024, with 300 going to Russian companies and 500 to foreign firms. France's Snecma and Italy's Alenia are also part of the Superjet project.
