Russia FM emphasizes multi polarity of financial system

MOSCOW: It is impossible to save the American economy without regard for the multi polar nature of the financial system, Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Lavrov said on Tuesday.
"The White House and the US administration on the whole draw conclusions from what has happened," the Minister said.
"The actions which are being taken and the proposals being tabled in Congress along with the reaction from the Congress itself indicate that the American elite, the US leaders have already awoken to what is happening". he added.
"No one is interested in its (American economy's) crisis. On the contrary, we all want the USA to get out of this heavy crisis as soon as possible," Lavrov emphasized.
At the same time the Minister pointed out that it is important that the American leaders while taking the necessary actions see the perspective, see the general picture.
"The general picture is the following: it is impossible to save the American economy without taking into consideration the multi polarity of the financial system and of the entire world economy in general, the multi polarity which really exists but which has not been reflected in full so far in the mechanisms that govern this economy and this financial system," the Minister pointed out.
Lavrov cited as an example the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.
"This also applies to the Group of Eight. The present-day state of affairs is an unambiguous indication that it is simply no longer possible to be slow in democratising all those organisations and in raising the level of representations in them," Lavrov said.
