Rio Tinto staff jailed on bribery, trade secrets charges

A Chinese court convicted four employees of mining giant Rio Tinto including an Australian national Monday on bribery and trade secrets charges, handing down jail terms.

SHANGHAI: A Chinese court convicted four employees of mining giant Rio Tinto including an Australian national Monday on bribery and trade secrets charges, handing down jail terms ranging from seven to 14 years.

Australian citizen Stern Hu was sentenced to 10 years in jail in the case which also involved three Chinese employees of the company and has strained relations with close trading partner Australia.
