RINL, SAIL in JV to acquire limestone block in Oman

Rashtriya Ispat Nigam (RINL) and Steel Authority of India (SAIL) have signed an MoU for acquisition of high-grade limestone in the Sultanate of Oman. The two partners will have a 50:50 share in the deal.

NEW DELHI: Rashtriya Ispat Nigam (RINL) and Steel Authority of India (SAIL) have signed an MoU for acquisition of high-grade limestone in the Sultanate of Oman. The two partners will have a 50:50 share in the deal.

At present, RINL is importing about 3.5 lakh of high grade lime stone annually, which is used as flux material to remove impurities in steel making. The acquisition would provide both SAIL and RINL with steady and cost effective supply of lime stone.
