Norway said on Sunday it would issue 41 billion euros of government bonds to pay for measures to increase liquidity on financial markets help credit starved banks.

OSLO: Norway said on Sunday it would issue 41 billion euros of government bonds to pay for measures to increase liquidity on financial markets help credit starved banks.

"We are giving banks the possibility of borrowing the best securities, the safest bonds there are," Finance Minister Kristin Halvorsen told a press conference.

"That ought to facilitate loans between banks," she said.
