Nokia announces plan to acquire US file-sharing specialist
Finnish telecommunications equipment maker Nokia said on Tuesday it planned to acquire Avvenu, a US-based company specialising in file-sharing technology for an undisclosed sum.
Avvenu, formed in 2004, offers technology that "enables users to search, access and share PC files remotely, using their mobile or other connected devices, even when their PC is turned off or not connected to the Internet," Nokia head of enterprise solutions Mary McDowell said.
Nokia said the deal was subject to customary closing conditions, with Avvenu set to be integrated into the group's software and services unit at the start of next year.
