Nintendo suffers first quarter loss

TOKYO: Videogame giant Nintendo Co. said on Thursday it sank into the red for the three months ended June, hit by sluggish sales and a stronger yen.

Nintendo said it suffered a net loss of 25.2 billion yen (288 million dollars) for the first quarter, compared with a net profit of 42.3 billion yen a year earlier. Sales dropped 25.6 percent to 188.6 billion yen.
