Nike to take over Britain's Umbro

British sportswear group Umbro, the maker of England's football team kit, has agreed to a takeover from US giant Nike in a deal worth $582 million.

LONDON: British sportswear group Umbro, the maker of England's football team kit, on Tuesday agreed to a takeover from US giant Nike in a deal worth 285 million pounds (408 million euros, $582 million).

Umbro also produces football strips for six English Premier League clubs, including Everton, West Ham and Wigan. High profile players like Chelsea's John Terry and Michael Owen of Newcastle endorse the brand.
