LONDON: Nigerian billionaire Aliko Dangote is reportedly interested in buying the 16 percent stake in Arsenal being sold by Nina Bracewell-Smith.

The Sunday Times newspaper says Dangote has registered his interest with finance house Blackstone.

The paper did not cite a source for the story but says Bracewell-Smith wants as much as 160 million pounds ($231 million) for a stake that is worth 96 million pounds ($139 million).

Stan Kroenke and Alisher Usmanov are the largest stockholders in the Premier League club and the paper says both are interested in acquiring the shares.

Kroenke or Usmanov would have to launch a full takeover bid if they succeeded in buying the shares.
