A unique castle blends 1980s design with traditional elements, overlooking Halfmoon Bay's serene waters and native flora.
Kitty Long, based out of Auckland, a real estate agent, has managed to sell a 1980s castle in Halfmoon Bay, East Auckland for $1.688 million to an investor. Long is a singing agent, one who sells real estate through marketing techniques like using music/singing in the background of property videos.

The property which is a five-bedroom home attracted 100 groups during the four-week campaign, with several developers and investors.

To demonstrate her unique skills, Kitty Long sang songs like ‘You Raise Me Up’, on a segment called Seven Sharp. The property was also featured on TV, with Long describing the property through her singing skills.

The castle was frequently visited by kids in the 1980s and 1990s, and was also one of the reasons the investor purchased the property, as he was looking for something different.

The property which was earlier run as a lucrative Airbnb, has five-bedrooms and three bathrooms, charging $1,250 per room.

The property was initially constructed by a Kiwi builder for his South African bride.

Kitty Long, who is a Barfoot and Thompson agent, took over the property after it could not find buyers for the last five years.

“When I first signed the listing, I knew it was going to be challenging, and I had heard other agents had tried but didn’t sell, so there was pressure when we first started. But I strongly believe in auctions, so I recommended the owner run an auction campaign.”, said Kitty Long to One Roof, a real estate agency in Auckland, New Zealand.

Long, who also owns a dome-shaped property in Takapuna, on Ngaio Street, next to Lake Pupuke Tennis Court and Taharoto Par, are filled with similar unusual homes.
