Moana Pasifika's March 21st game against the Chiefs has been moved from Nuku'alofa, Tonga to Pukekohe, New Zealand due to logistical challenges. Moana Pasifika CEO Debbie Sorensen expressed disappointment but cited uncontrollable factors. The team aims to bring a game to Tonga in 2026. Moana Pasifika CEO Debbie Sorensen addressed the relocation, emphasizing the team's desire to play in the Pacific. The change of venue was due to circumstances beyond the team's control. Sorensen expressed regret but reaffirmed the team's commitment to playing in Tonga in the future.

“Our hearts are in the Pacific and that is where we want to be, but it wasn’t possible for this fixture due to things that were out of our hands.”


The team acknowledged the disappointment for fans in Tonga who were anticipating the home game. The decision to relocate was made to ensure the smooth execution of the match.

“It’s sad to say that we can’t make it happen this time, but [we] are already looking at how we can take a game to Tonga in 2026.”

The rescheduled match will take place at Navigation Homes Stadium in Pukekohe, New Zealand. This venue offers the necessary infrastructure and logistical capabilities for the game to proceed. The date remains March 21, 2025, allowing fans to still attend the Super Rugby Pacific match.
