Dunedin woman, her partner win $5.5 million Lotto lottery

A Dunedin woman and her partner, who wish to remain anonymous, have won $5 million Lotto lottery. The woman and her partner got to know about her massive win while she was shopping for groceries even though they had heard that the winner of the Lotto prize money was from Dunedin.

They had bought their ticket from a different store and were unsure that it was their number that was the lucky won. The prize money was announced on March 15.

But when she went for her groceries shopping after a week, she decided to check the ticket. Upon scanning the ticket, the screen showed her "Division One Winner" and she stated "oh that could be interesting". She then gave her ticket to the Lotto operator who again scanned the ticket and revealed to her that she had won a "big one".


The woman stated that she was shocked when the operator showed her the amount which was $5.5 million. She added that she could not believe that her ticket had won. She then rushed to her home to share the good news with her partner.

She told her partner that "we won some money on Lotto" and then showed her the amount written on a small piece of paper. Her partner too was shocked with the huge win.

Ecstatic with the amount, the duo has spent that last few days asking each other if they had really won.

The two spent their weekend celebrating the lottery win and are yet to decide what to do with the amount.

"The first thing we both said is we want to help our family, but we haven’t decided what else we’d like to do. A lovely holiday somewhere warm will be on the cards at some point though," said the woman.
