Christchurch school student attacks two teachers with scissors

The school principal, Dr Peggy Burrows, posted about the assault on the school Facebook page. "Unfortunately, today there was an incident at kura/school where two kaiako/teachers were assaulted by an ākonga who was holding a pair of scissors. This assault occurred just before 2.00pm and was witnessed by a number of ākonga/students and kaimahi/staff. Please check with your ākonga/student if you observe any evidence of distress or anxiety and contact the kura/school if they are having difficulty processing what they may have witnessed during this assault," the post by Dr Burrows read.
"We are here to help and support. The kaimahi/staff members concerned received medical attention and are recovering well. They will not be at kura/school for the rest of the week. If you wish to discuss this matter with me please contact me here at the kura, I am happy to support," it added.
One of the injured teachers was immediately rushed to the hospital for medical attention. The injured duo was not identified by the school. Even the identity of the student who carried out the attack was not disclosed.
The motive behind the attack was not yet clear.
Police were immediately informed and officers launched an investigation into the case.
“At around 2.15pm, police were called to a premises on Breezes Rd. One person received injuries and was transported to hospital by another individual," a police officer told a New Zealand news portal.
Parents were also informed about the assault by the school authorities with many of them voicing their concern and apprehension online.
