Motorola inks $310 mn deal with China Mobile

Motorola announced on Thursday it has agreed to provide China Mobile Communications Corp (CMCC) with 310 million dollars worth of mobile telecommunications equipment and services.

WASHINGTON: Motorola announced on Thursday it has agreed to provide China Mobile Communications Corp (CMCC) with 310 million dollars worth of mobile telecommunications equipment and services.

Motorola said the one-year agreement with China's biggest mobile provider was signed on April 27. "Motorola has worked with China Mobile for more than 20 years," Motorola China vice president and general manager Mohammad Akhtar said in a statement.

"As a long-term strategic partner of China Mobile, Motorola is proud to continue being a part of its growth," he said. "Motorola stands ready to support China Mobile in building a state-of-the-art network."

Motorola said its products will be used by China Mobile to integrate voice and data capacity on its mobile networks using GSM and TD-SCDMA standards.

Motorola has also recently inked contracts with Vietnam and Nigeria and Saudi Arabia to help develop their telephone networks.
