CHANDIGARH: A 16-member delegation from Latin American and Caribbean countries today sought to develop a networking system with India to facilitate technology transfer and exploration of agri-business.
The delegation, led by Venezuelan ambassador Milena Santana Ramirez, to Punjab observed that India was facing water shortage problem and failed to fully exploit its potential of urban-land cultivation.
"Both the Latin American and Caribbean countries have abundant urban land and substantial water. We can explore with India in terms of diversification of agriculture," the members of the delegation noted at a joint press conference here.
"For this high level of interaction is necessary as the countries have similar kind of problems. Besides, exchanges will enable India become aware of the potential of these countries," they said.
The delegation felt the need for setting up of an Indian, Latin American and Caribbean forum for exchange and exploring technology in agri-business, agri-technology and other social programmes.
