Kumho to recall more than 300,000 tyres in China

'Kumho was using high amounts of recycled tyres as raw material in its manufacturing facility in northern municipality of Tianjin.'

BEIJING: South Korea's Kumho Tyres today said it will recall more than 300,000 substandard tyres in China, beginning April 15.

The recalled products were made between 2008 and 2011, official Xinhua news agency reported.

China's state television CCTV had reported in mid-March that Kumho, one of the largest tyre manufacturer in China, was using high amounts of recycled tyres as raw material in its manufacturing facility in northern municipality of Tianjin.

The state television added that these tyres could rupture.

Kumho's China subsidiary head Lee Han-seop publicly apologised to Chinese consumers on a CCTV program on March 21.
