Kia recalls 70,000 Optimas for transmission defect
Kia says a cable can detach from the shifter assembly, and even though a driver puts the car in park, it would stay in the last gear that was used.
The cars are from the 2006 through 2008 model years and were built from September of 2005 to June of 2007.
Kia says a cable can detach from the shifter assembly, and even though a driver puts the car in park, it would stay in the last gear that was used.
The company says the cars can roll if the driver doesn't use the parking brake.
Kia says in documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that no injuries have been reported due to the problem.
The recall is expected to begin this month.
