JPMorgan CEO says no pressure to do an acquisition

JPMorgan Chase & Company Chief Executive Jamie Dimon on Thursday said he feels no pressure to do an acquisition, but expects there will be opportunities.

NEW YORK: JPMorgan Chase & Company Chief Executive Jamie Dimon on Thursday said he feels no pressure to do an acquisition, but expects there will be opportunities.

"I don't believe that we have to do anything for JPMorgan," Dimon said at a Credit Suisse financial services conference. "There is no pressure whatsoever to do an acquisition. Having said that, if there's an opportunity to do something that really makes sense for the company, we would do it."

Dimon said that to do an acquisition, there would have to be business logic, a "right and fair" price, and an ability to execute.

The third-largest US bank has been quieter than many rivals in acquisitions in recent years. Some analysts have said JPMorgan might consider acquiring a US regional bank.
