Japanese interest in global warming surpasses all!
More than 90 per cent of Japanese are interested in global warming issues.

TOKYO: A documentary and soaring temperatures are enough to trigger Japanese interest in global warming. More than 90 per cent of Japanese are interested in global warming issues, according to a government survey released Saturday.
This is apparently due to the sweltering summers and impact of former US Vice President Al Gore's documentary "An Inconvenient Truth," an award-winning documentary film that warns against global climate change, an Environment Ministry official said.
The Cabinet Office survey said 92 per cent of respondents expressed having interest in the issue, up from 87 per cent in the previous poll in July 2005.
It marks the first time the figure has topped 90 per cent since the government began asking people if they are interested in the matter in similar polls starting in November 1998.
Of the total, 7 per cent said they are not interested, down from 11 per cent in July 2005, while 0.4 per cent said they do not know, down from 1 per cent, according to the latest findings.
For the survey, the Cabinet Office interviewed 3,000 people aged 20 or older across the country from August 2 to 12, with 1,805, or 60 per cent, responding.
In multiple answers, 40 per cent of the respondents said they want to buy televisions, air conditioners, refrigerators and other consumer goods with high energy efficiency as part of efforts to help curb global warming.
A total of 36 per cent said they will make efforts to turn off electricity frequently to reduce power consumption, and 35 per cent said they take shopping bags with them when going shopping and that they choose to buy products without wrapping.
