Indian PM to visit Palestine; UAE & Oman from Feb 9-12; first ever PM visit to Palestine

NEW DELHI: After Act East, it is time for Act West as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to visit Palestine, United Arab Emirates and Oman from Feb 9-12.

This will be the first ever visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Palestine, and Prime Minister Modi's second visit to UAE and first to Oman.

His visit to Palestine is to signal India's balanced foreign policy approach in the backdrop of Israel PM's India visit and efforts at de-hyphenating Israel-Palestine issue. India is among the handful of nations that has mission in Ramallah. Indian President had visited Palestine in 2015 along with Israel & Jordan.


During the visit, the Prime Minister will hold discussions on matters of mutual interest with their leaders, apart from participating in other events.

Prime Minister would be addressing the Sixth World Government Summit being held in Dubai at which India has been extended 'Guest of Honour' status. He will also meet the Indian community in UAE and Oman.

Later in February India is also expected to host King of Jordan and during Feb-March may even host King of Saudi Arabia and President of Iran.
