Indian origin Leo Varadkar to become first gay Irish PM

Varadkar first publicly announced his being gay during an interview with RTE radio, in 2015. He also revealed that he is not in a relationship at the moment, but would like to be.

Varadkar's father Ashok, also a doctor, hails from a family of nine siblings native to Varad region near Malwan along the Konkan coast. He migrated to Ireland where he married an Irish nurse, before settling down there permanently. The large Varadkar family in Borivili (Mumbai), expressing pride at his achievement, revelled in Leo's Prime Ministerial election.
