WASHINGTON: The International Monetary Fund's member nations overwhelmingly approved vote and quota reform measures that strengthen the voice of developing countries, the IMF said on Tuesday.

The reforms, adopted by the IMF board of governors a month ago, were approved Monday by 175 countries, the 185-member multilateral institution said in a statement.

"This vote shows the overwhelming level of support across the Fund's membership for these reforms, and I thank the members for this resounding endorsement," said IMF managing director Dominique Strauss-Kahn.
