IMF, EU inspectors in Greece for fiscal checkup
Officials from the International Monetary Fund are in Greece to conduct a fiscal checkup required before the country gets its second loan installment in mid-September.
Officials from the European Union and European Central Bank will also take part in the inspection and are due to remain through Aug. 6 after starting talks with Greek authorities Monday.
Debt-ridden Greece narrowly avoided bankruptcy in May and was pledged up to euro110 billion ($142 billion) in rescue loans from the IMF and the 15 other EU countries using the euro.
