HSBC injects 750 million pounds into British division

Global banking giant HSBC said Thursday that it had injected 750 million pounds into its British arm, meeting its commitment under a government rescue plan to try and stabilise the UK banking system.

LONDON: Global banking giant HSBC said Thursday that it had injected 750 million pounds into its British arm, meeting its commitment under a government rescue plan to try and stabilise the UK banking system.

"HSBC Holdings plc has today further strengthened the capital base of its UK subsidiary, HSBC Bank plc, fulfilling its agreed commitment to the UK government's banking sector scheme announced yesterday, through an equity injection of 750 million pounds," the bank said in a statement.
