Typhoon Ragasa brought powerful winds and torrential rain across Taiwan on Monday, forcing a commercial plane to abort its landing at Kinmen Airport, reported Taiwanese television channel, TVBS News, website. The pilot made a few brave attempts, amid fierce crosswinds, to land the plane before diverting to a safer location. The plane was swaying sharply while drifting off the runway’s centerline. But the alert pilot kept his calm and took a brave decision which narrowly averted what could have been a disastrous accident.

TVBS News reported that Taiwan’s Central Weather Administration confirmed Typhoon Ragasa reached peak intensity on Monday before sweeping across southern parts of the island that evening. Officials cautioned that heavy rainfall would persist into Tuesday (September 23), impacting several regions.

Forecasters expect the storm’s circle to gradually shift away by Tuesday morning, with the land warning likely to be lifted by midday, though the sea warning will remain in place until nightfall as the system tracks westward.
