Wyoming holds its 2026 primary election on Tuesday, August 18, with voters choosing party nominees for governor, the state's lone U.S. House seat, U.S. Senate, secretary of state and other statewide offices, according to Election Desk. Polling places are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. local time, and Wyoming law allows voters already in line at 7 p.m. to still cast their ballots, per the Wyoming Secretary of State's office.

Key races and candidates

The Republican primary for Wyoming's at-large U.S. House seat features five candidates: Jillian Balow, Kevin Christensen, David Giralt, Chuck Gray and Reid Rasner, according to Ballotpedia.


In the U.S. Senate Republican primary, incumbent Cynthia Lummis, first elected in 2020, faces challenger Jimmy Skovgard, Ballotpedia reported.

The Republican gubernatorial primary is also being contested, with candidates including Megan Deganfelder, according to the Rocket Miner. Ballotpedia noted that candidate profiles for the governor's race were still being compiled as filings were finalised.

Some polling locations have changed for the 2026 cycle, and the office has advised voters to verify their site in advance.

What you need to bring

Wyoming requires voters to show an acceptable form of identification at the polling place under the state's voter ID law, according to the Secretary of State's office. Acceptable documents include a Wyoming driver's license or ID card, a valid U.S. passport, a military ID, a tribal ID, or a Wyoming university or community college student ID. Voters casting an absentee ballot by mail are not required to show additional identification.

Same-day registration
