For the first-time ever, Los Angeles is hosting a sperm race. A start-up called ‘Sperm Racing’, is launching this wild, history-making event as a way to “make reproductive health engaging and measurable while addressing declining fertility rates.”

Here are ten things you need to know about world's first-ever sperm race:

-Organised by the startup Sperm Racing, the sperm race is one-of-a-kind event will take place at the Hollywood Palladium on April 25. Sperm Racing is set to make history as the world’s first competitive sperm motility showdown.

-Over 1,000 spectators are expected to gather for the event, where, despite the racers being invisible to the naked eye, the excitement promises to be tangible.


-The Sperm Racing's manifesto revealed that the event would include the use of high-resolution cameras and a carefully designed microscopic racetrack that mimics the human reproductive system.

-But instead of athletes on a track, it’s sperm cells under a microscope, competing in a lab-engineered racecourse where their speed and motility will be measured in real-time.

-High-resolution cameras will track every microscopic move and the high-energy event will feature a head-to-head “race” between two of California’s collegiate giants: UCLA vs. USC.

-There will be press conferences, live commentary, and even betting and the sperm racing event is covered like a full-fledged, proper sporting showdown. The startup has already raised $1 million to get the concept off the ground with support from venture firms like Karatage and Figment Capital.

-The sperm race is the brainchild of a group of young startup founders: Eric Zhu (CEO of Aviato), Nick Small (Stealth Consulting), Shane Fan (Waterfall NFT pricing), and Garret Niconienko (former content strategist for YouTuber MrBeast).

-Two sperm cells, each only 0.05 millimeters long, will traverse a 20-centimeter micro-scale course that simulates the environment of the female reproductive system, incorporating factors such as chemical cues, fluid flow, and synchronized starting positions.

-The race will be tracked using advanced imaging technology and high-resolution cameras, with the winner being the first sperm cell to reach the designated finish line."

-The event spotlights a serious issue: declining male fertility. Researchers have shown that sperm counts globally have dropped by more than 50% over the last 50 years.
