A tragic plane crash occurred at Scottsdale Airport, Arizona, on February 10, around 2:50 p.m. local time. The accident involved a Learjet 35A owned by American musician Vince Neil. The aircraft, arriving from Austin, Texas, experienced a left main gear failure during landing, causing it to veer off course and collide with a stationary Gulfstream 200, according to the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

As per Scottsdale Fire Department, one person was dead in the accident while two sustained serious injuries, and one non-life-threatening injury among the occupants of Neil’s plane. The fifth individual, who was inside the Gulfstream 200, declined medical assistance.

Mötley Crüe addressed the incident through a statement on X, issued by Vince Neil’s representative, Worrick Robinson IV. The statement clarified that Neil was not on board, confirming that the plane carried two pilots and two passengers. It expressed Neil’s thoughts and prayers for those affected and gratitude for the emergency responders. Investigations into the crash are ongoing.

Who is Vince Neil?

Vince Neil, best known as the lead vocalist of Mötley Crüe, has an estimated net worth of $50 million. He joined the band in 1981 and played a pivotal role in the success of albums such as Too Fast for Love and Shout at the Devil. After leaving in 1991 due to personal conflicts, he pursued a solo career before rejoining the band in 1997.

Beyond music, Neil has built a diverse business portfolio, investing in hospitality venues, clothing stores, tattoo parlors, vineyards, poker tournaments, a tequila brand, gentlemen’s clubs, and indoor football teams. His real estate holdings include a Danville mansion, listed for $2.58 million in 2015.

Neil has faced multiple legal issues over the years, including allegations of assault, battery, and DUI offenses. In 1985, he was charged with vehicular manslaughter, leading to significant fines and settlements. Court records from July 8, 2019, revealed that he owed £170,000 in outstanding legal fees.

Reports indicate that Neil’s girlfriend, Rain, and her companion were among the passengers on the ill-fated flight and required hospitalization. The incident resulted in the temporary closure of the airport’s runway, with Scottsdale Fire Department responding swiftly to rescue a trapped individual. Records show that the stationary Gulfstream 200 had been at the airport since January 31.

This accident adds to a series of recent aviation disasters in the U.S., including a January 29 collision between a commercial plane and an Army helicopter near Washington, D.C., which claimed 67 lives, and a January 31 medical transport aircraft crash in Philadelphia that resulted in seven fatalities.
