The Trump administration is forcing out senior leadership at the U.S. National Archives and Records Administration in a major shakeup, CNN reported on Friday, citing a source familiar with the matter.

The move comes after President Donald Trump last week dismissed Colleen Shogan, the Archivist of the United States.

The national archivist is responsible for overseeing government records and heads the National Archives, an agency Trump has repeatedly criticized since it alerted the Justice Department to Trump's handling of classified documents in early 2022 after his first term.

The White House is expected to announce plans for new leadership at the archives in the coming days, the report said.
