Queen Elizabeth II, who passed away at Balmoral in September 2022, had an exceptional eye for jewellery, amassing over time remarkable pieces to which the entire Royal Family has access. These cherished items, numbering in the hundreds are securely stored, away from prying eyes, as per reports.The Queen received the jaw-dropping gift from the Nizam of Hyderabad, who was one of the world's richest men back in 1937 and was known for his miserliness. Back when she received this lavish gift, little could she have guessed her future as a monarch would span seven decades.
The Nizams were given the title of "Faithful Ally of the British Government" for their roles in the Second and Third Anglo-Mysore Wars and the Indian Rebellion of 1857. He allowed her to personally create a bespoke piece that would last a lifetime.
