'We have a president...": Madonna slams Donald Trump, here's what she said and how MAGA supporters reacted

Pop icon Madonna has criticized U.S. President Donald Trump for referring to himself as the "king of the world." Taking to X (formerly Twitter), she reminded her followers that the United States was founded as a nation governed by the people, not a monarchy.

"I thought this country was built by Europeans escaping the rule of a king to establish a New World governed by the people. Yet, we now have a president who calls himself our king," Madonna wrote.

She added, "If this is a joke, I'm not laughing."


This is not the first time the "Queen of Pop" has spoken out against Trump.


In January, she condemned his administration for rolling back protections for transgender people and dismantling diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. Urging citizens to keep fighting for their rights, she tweeted:

"It's so sad to watch our new government slowly dismantling all the freedoms we have fought for and won over the years. Don't give up the fight!"

Madonna isn’t the only celebrity to criticize Trump’s policies. Singer and actress Selena Gomez, whose father is of Mexican descent, became emotional in a now-deleted Instagram video, reacting to the administration's stance on the deportation of undocumented immigrants.

"All my people are getting attacked … the children. I don't understand. I'm so sorry. I wish I could do something, but I can't. I don't know what to do. I'll try everything, I promise," she tearfully said.

Meanwhile, MAGA supporters slammed Madonna for her statement.

One wrote, "You literally call yourself “the Queen” ALL. THE. TIME. Now suddenly it’s not funny to say that???"

Another corrected her saying, "Actually, no. It was settled by people who wanted to express themselves and their religious beliefs freely, without persecution. It was founded by people who were sick and tired of being taxed for every little thing and being told what was politically correct."

"So Madonna, is it worse for a President to troll his haters and call himself a KING? Or for a has been singer who butchered herself with plastic surgery saying she wants to blow up with White House?," said another.

But plenty of people also supported the pop icon.

"Madonna, all this firing and closing federal parts of our government scares me. All those people are losing there jobs. Insurance will follow. Even scarier, Trump fans love him. They are like under hypnosis," replied an X user.
