Vietnam Independence Day 2026: Schools to remain closed for five days; check reopening date
Schools and educational institutions across Vietnam are observing a five-day break for Independence Day 2026, with classes suspended from Saturday, August 29, to Wednesday, September 2, according to a report by The Sunday Guardian.

Classes are scheduled to resume on Thursday, September 3, ahead of the nationwide school opening ceremonies traditionally held on September 5.

The extended break combines the weekend with the official National Day holidays. The schedule was enabled by shifting the working day of Monday, August 31, to Saturday, August 22, the report said.

Tourist attractions, amusement parks, public transport, hotels and restaurants are expected to remain operational during the holiday period.

The five-day break was created through a rearrangement of the working calendar, with the August 31 working day moved to August 22. This allowed for a continuous holiday from August 29 to September 2.
