Monaco’s Valentin Vacherot, ranked world No. 204, pulled off a sensational upset against Novak Djokovic in the Shanghai Masters semi-finals on Saturday, triumphing 6-3, 6-4. The 26-year-old qualifier dominated an ailing 38-year-old Djokovic, who battled vomiting, leg injuries, and exhaustion in sweltering 31°C heat with 62% humidity. Vacherot now advances to Sunday’s final, where he will face either his cousin Arthur Rinderknech or Daniil Medvedev.

"I'm trying to pinch myself, is this real," said Vacherot after his career-defining victory. "I know not many of you guys wanted me to win. To have Novak on the other side of the court was first of all an invaluable experience for me. I have a hundred feelings right now."
