Fiona Lowe, the daughter of actor Chad Lowe and producer Kim Painter, has died, the family announced. According to a statement from the medical examiner, Fiona Lowe reportedly died by suicide, reports PEOPLE. The 13-year-old daughter of Lowe and his producer wife Kim Painter was pronounced dead at 1:14 a.m. on Tuesday, September 29 at a local hospital, according to medical examiner’s office.

Chad Lowe's daughter passes away after they lose their home

This tragedy comes after the Lowe family shared the heartbreaking loss of their home in the Pacific Palisades Fire in early 2025. In February, Chad shared that the family went to see the remains of the home where all three girls had grown up.


“Almost a month after we evacuated our girls finally got to go back to see what’s left of their home,” he wrote in an Instagram post at the time. “The way they’ve handled this whole devastating experience is nothing short of remarkable. I am in awe of their spirit and resilience. Helping them navigate these tough times is my sole purpose. Being their dad is my life’s greatest joy and privilege ⭐️⭐️⭐️.”

Family shares news of Fiona Lowe's death

On September 29, the Lowe family shared news of the death of their daughter Fiona in a statement to PEOPLE. “We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona,” they said. They remembered Fiona as “a loving young girl who was smart, creative, and loved to dance.”

“She was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents,” the family said, adding, “In fact, she was the light of our lives.”

“Her passing is devastating for our entire family and we ask for prayers and privacy at this time. Fiona Lowe was the second of three daughters

Fiona was the second of Lowe and Painter’s three daughters. They are also parents to Mabel, 17, and Nixie Barbara, 10. After news broke of Fiona’s death, a source remembered Fiona as “sweet, quiet and kind” and shared that both her middle school and the community are devastated.

“This is a devastating time for the community,” shared the insider. “The Lowe family is very involved and are at many school functions. Fiona was sweet, quiet and kind. Dance was her biggest passion, she had a very artistic soul.”

Fiona’s death was acknowledged by the school she attended in an email sent to parents. The school principal told parents that counseling and emotional-support services were available for students or staff members who were struggling after the death.

However, the school did not identify Fiona by name in that email. A source later told Page Six that Fiona was well-liked at school and had many friends, suggesting she was a popular and socially connected student.

How her grandfather remembered Fiona Lowe

The young dancer was remembered in a touching social media tribute from her grandfather, Charles “Chuck” Lowe, on Wednesday. Sharing a photo of Fiona in a swimming pool, he wrote, “Rest in peace, sweet Fiona.”

Chad, who has also directed several television shows, often spoke publicly about being a proud “girl dad” and celebrated Fiona’s achievements on social media.

On Fiona’s birthday last November, Chad shared a tribute marking her becoming a teenager. “Celebrating Fiona officially becoming a teen today!! Keep dancing through life FiBear! Love you soooo much!!” he wrote.
